JP - Research - Horror

Horror films are made to unsettle and frighten the audience, whilst maintaing a storyline that will entertain the audience. Horror films involve dark, primative, revolting traits. They are generally set in a rural environment rather than in urban areas like Thrillers. However the two genres can combine when they focus on the revolting and horrible acts of the killer/madman.
Here are some examples of very successful horror films:
  • The Exorcist (William Friedkin, 1973)
  • The Shining (Stanley Kubrick, 1980)
  • Saw (James Wan, 2004)
  • 28 Days Later (Danny Boyle, 2002)
